Friends of Strays organizes historic event

Friends of Strays organizes first of its kind event at the historic St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club

Saturday, May 7, 9 am – 5 pm at St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club, 559 Mirror Lake Drive North, St. Petersburg. This is truly the first event of its kind in the Tampa Bay area!  You’ve heard of Comic Con, for comic book lovers. Or maybe Dragon Con, for fantasy and sci-fi fans. Now get ready for CatCon DogFest!

CCDF-Event-HeaderPet enthusiasts will gather at the Historic St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club for a full day of animal-themed fun. CatCon DogFest is expected to draw pet enthusiasts from throughout the Tampa Bay area for a full day of pet-themed fun. Among the events scheduled:

  • A select group of artists and vendors selling services and products for pets and their human   parents
  • A presentation by the St. Petersburg Police Department K9 Unit
  • Flyball demonstration from the Dog Training Club of St. Petersburg
  • Food trucks for the humans—and plenty of treats for our four-legged friends
  • Lure chase demonstration by Whatadog Play Center
  • Kitten play zone and dog kissing booth
  • Lure chase demonstration by Whatadog Play Center
  • Kitten play zone and dog kissing booth
  • A demonstration from the Dog Training Club of St. Petersburg.
  • For a donation your dog can participate in the Lure Chase from Whatadog Play Center and Radar Recall by To the Rescue Dog Training
  • Music by DJ re:Pete

Tickets can be purchased on the day of the event or in advance by clicking here –  Cost is $10 for general admission (kids under 10 years old are free), or $25 for VIP tickets, which includes a goodie bag, access to the VIP Lounge and a drink ticket.

“We’re so excited about this unique event, which will give animal lovers a terrific opportunity to have fun together and learn more about their pets,” said Mo Eppley, Friends of Strays board president and event organizer. “It also raises the money and awareness Friends of Strays Animal Shelter needs to continue finding loving homes for abandoned animals in need.”

This is a dog-friendly event.  Please read our guidelines. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash, are well behaved and up to date on their vaccinations.

  • Dog handlers must be over the age of 18.
  • By purchasing a ticket, you agree to our terms for attending with your dog. ALL dogs must be on a leash at ALL times. 
  • No Flexi or retractable leashes allowed. 
  • Leashes must not be longer than 6 feet.
  • Adult dogs must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccines.
  • For their health and safety, please do not bring puppies who have not completed their series of vaccines.
  • Dogs must be well-behaved and non-aggressive with people, children and other dogs. 
  • Please use good judgement about your dog’s temperament.
  • Dog handlers must be 18 years or older

There will be Dog Comfort Stations throughout the event. Please be kind and pick up after your dog. Keep your dog hydrated.  Volunteers will be filling water stations!

We reserve the right to ask any attendee to leave at any time for any reason.
